· Knit & Felt an Entrelac Pouch

· Participants will knit a small bag using the entrelac (interlacements) stitch and will use the magic of wool's tendency to felt to transform loose knitting into a firm, dense fabric.

· Dates TBA, 3 sessions (2 hours each), starting October-November 2007 at the Alfred Knitting Studio.

· Sweater Design & Construction

· This workshop covers inspiration, pattern, scaling of texture & color patterns, converting ideas to knitwear, and basic color theory.  Instruction will be provided in body measurements, ease, fit, sweater shape & proportion, application of color & texture, gauge, calculations, adjustments, starts & finishes.  Various other technical features will be presented as the class demands:  steeks, seams, pick up & knit, edges & borders.  Students may design and construct a sweater from scratch over a twelve-week period.  The class is scheduled for every other week for six sessions, but follow up is available if a project takes a bit longer.

· One-Day Skill Builder Sessions

· Come to the Alfred Knitting Studio (or I will come to your guild or group) for single sessions on specific topics, such as:

·        Reading Patterns

Knitting Classes

· Endings and Beginnings

· Finishing starts from the beginning: seaming and other assembly techniques, picking up and knitting, short-row shoulder shaping, crocheted and knitted edges, buttonholes, blocking and other techniques will be incorporated into a miniature sweater pattern that is provided.

Knitting Classes at the Alfred Knitting Studio

· Cables & Textures

· This class is an exploration of stitch manipulation to achieve cables, textures, stitch patterns.  Use of pattern stitches in garment design, following a pattern with charts and/or text, and shaping within a stitch pattern will also be covered.

· October 13, October 27 and November 3 (2 hours each), at the Alfred Knitting tudio.

· Lace Techniques

· This class, designed for those who have little or no experience with knitted lace, will cover choosing yarn and needle size for the pattern selected, understanding lace structure, fixing errors, and casting on/binding off techniques.  Various tips & tricks will be shown as well.

· Dates TBA, 3 sessions (2 hours each), starting September 2007 at the Alfred Knitting Studio. 

· Now scheduled as Advanced Lace Techniques class October 28, November 11 and November 18.  This class will cover working from charts, converting patterns to charts, applying lace stitches to generic designs, constructing lace garments, and student choice lace projects.
